Lawrence Edward Jones

On Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023 Lawrence Edward Jones Jr., age 76, passed away in Fannin County.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was born January 26th, 1947 to Lawrence Edward Jones Sr. and Lois Lear Jones in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Diane Dunn Jones. They were married on October 3rd, 1970, in Rockwall County. In addition, he is survived by 3 children and their spouses, Jennifer Diane Jones Vance and her husband Shane, James Lawrence Jones and his wife Rachel, and Jeffrey Preston Jones and his wife Jackie. Larry was blessed with 9 grandchildren, Michael Vance and his wife Ashley, Nathan Vance, Melissa Vance, Clayton Jones, Madison Jones, Allyson Jones, E'Lita Williams, Graysin Dodd, and Jaxon McCarty. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Jones Crawley of Austin, Texas and his brother Randall Jones of Garland, Texas, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He graduated from Garland High School in 1965 and earned an Associate's Degree in Management at a local college. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in the 101st. Airborne from 1967-1970. His career was spent in the food management industry. After retirement, Larry "Pops" Jones devoted his life to his family, spoiling his grandchildren, and traveling with his wife. He was an avid gardener and a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. He never met a stranger and will be missed by all who knew him.
