Graveside Services for Laverne Hale Nelson, age 78, of Bonham, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2021 at Carson Cemetery in Ector, Texas under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Laverne's nephew, Bro. Cody Nelson will officiate with Bro. Rex Jackson assisting. Laverne passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, lovingly surrounded by family at her residence in Bonham, Texas after her courageous, stubborn bout with cancer and COPD.

Laverne was born on May 29, 1943, in Lyford, Texas, the daughter of Sidney Baxter Hale Sr. and Willie Belle Taylor Hale. She was the 3 rd of nine children. She was a very caring and affectionate woman who placed others needs before herself. She attended school in Hackberry, Louisiana and Ivanhoe, Texas. She also attended Sherman Business School and Grayson County Beauty School where she earned her beautician's license. Upon her graduation from GCBS she began a 50-year career as a hairdresser. Laverne married the love of her life on December 19, 1959, David Nelson. They were married in Durant, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, David, her parents, her brother, Don Hale, her sisters, Barbara Wildberger and Doris Robertson. .

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Vicki Bellows and husband Tommy of Ector and Kelly Baker and husband Johnny of Mulberry; her grandchildren, Colt Bellows and wife April, Kathryn Cater and husband Eric, all of Ector, Lauren Dickson and husband Chris of Honey Grove, Kristopher Crutcher and Charlee of Bonham; great-grandchildren, Hadley and Reed Bellows, Chayson, Paysley, and Truly Cater, Levi and Wade Dickson, and Brayden Crutcher; brothers, Sidney Hale and wife Mary, Jerry Hale and wife Beth, and Albert Hale and wife Peggy; sisters, Martha Compton and husband David and Vera Brown; extended family, Dusty and Kellie Baker and children, Corey and Kristi Baker and family, and LizAnn and Justin Rogers and family.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Colt Bellows, Kristoper Crutcher, Dusty Baker, and Core Baker; grandsons in law, Chris Dickson and Eric Cater; and great grandson, Chayson Cater.

The family would like to extend our thanks to Hospice +, the Boyd Baptist Church family, and her loving neighbors.

No formal visitation will be held. Laverne will lay in state on Thursday, October 28, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. and on Friday morning until service time.
