Funeral services for Mr. Laron Dale Shepherd, age 68, of the Cotton Center Community of Fannin County, will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at the Wise Funeral Home Chapel in Bonham, Texas. Burial will follow in the Moores Chapel Cemetery. Bro. Cody Nelson will officiate. Laron passed away on April 9, 2021 at the Texoma Medical Center in Bonham, Texas.
Laron was born in Bonham, Texas, the son of Laron Doyce Shepherd and Margaret Faye Dale Shepherd.
He attended schools in Gober (a proud Gober Plow Boy) and later graduated from Bonham High School in 1971. He married Patti Evans on July 8, 1978 in Bonham. He was a member of the 7 th and Main Baptist Church and was a well-respected man in our community. He was the kind of man that would give you the shirt off of his back and loved his family and grandchildren with his whole heart. He served on the Bartley Woods Water Supply Board for over 40 years and was president at the time of his death. He was a faithful member of the Moores Chapel Cemetery Association. For over 50 years he enjoyed farming the black land of Fannin County. Upon retirement from farming, he worked for O'Reilly's Auto Parts where he loved getting to visit with friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew Jamey Sisk.
He is survived by his wife Patti Shepherd of Cotton Center and his son Landon Shepherd of Cotton Center, daughters, Ashleigh and Brandon Brandenburg of Ivanhoe; Andrea Lappin of Bonham, Lauron and Blake Goode of Ravenna; sister, Eloise and Mike Sisk of Bonham and grandchildren, Zayne Goode, Blake Wells, Andrew Brandenburg, Avreigh Chaffin, Austyn Herrington, Landreigh Chaffin, Preslee Goode, Rowan Brandenburg, Kasen Morton, Willow Brandeburg, Quayde Goode, Koen Brandenburg and Piper Goode.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Carder, Arthur Dean Chaney, Dava Brent, Dennis Whitlock, Theron Whitfield, and Tommy Velis. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Johnson, Scott Miller, Richard Clark, Thomas Frazier, Russell Morrison, and Lance Capehart.
