Obituary

Kenneth Wright Hampton, born on September 13, 1941, in Aubrey, Texas, passed away on May 5, 2026, in Trenton, Texas. He was a quiet, thoughtful man whose life reflected hard work, steady character, and a deep appreciation for the simple and meaningful things in life.

From an early age Kenneth learned the value of responsibility and perseverance at an early age. By the age of 14, he had planted his first crop of peanuts, beginning a lifelong connection to farming that would remain central to his days. Agriculture was not merely his work. It was his way of life, and he took great pride in the labor of the land. He loved being outdoors and found comfort and purpose in the rhythms of farm life, where his hands, his mind, and his patience all served a purpose.

Throughout his life, Kenneth was known as a smart and quiet man who did not seek attention for himself but instead let his actions speak for him. He had a steady presence and a practical mind, qualities that earned the respect of those who knew him well. He also pursued education in electronics at an early age, demonstrating both curiosity and ability beyond the fields he loved so dearly. His interest and skill in electronics reflected the same careful attention and intelligence that he brought to every part of his life.

Kenneth’s love of collecting coins was another reflection of his thoughtful nature. He appreciated the history and detail found in each piece, and his collection became one of the many quiet interests that brought him satisfaction over the years.

He was a lifelong farmer, and that role shaped not only his work but also his identity. The farm was more than a place of employment. It was where he felt most at home. He understood the seasons, the demands of the land, and the rewards that came from patience and dedication. His life in agriculture stood as a testament to endurance, humility, and the dignity of honest work.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Dovie Hampton, first wife, Frances Hampton, and son, Jerry Hampton.

Kenneth is survived by, wife, Lorraine Henson Hampton, daughter, Teresa Garrett and fiancé Ray Stringer, grandchildren, Zachary Garrett (Jenny), Muri Garrett (Catherine), and several great-grandchildren.

Visitation is Friday at 10am with an 11am chapel service at Wise Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Arledge Ridge.
