Kathryn Cox Renshaw

Kathryn Cox Renshaw, 96 year old Bonham resident, passed away at her home on March 17, 2015, surrounded by her family. Kathryn was born Feb. 19, 1919 in the Moores Chapel Community of Fannin County, Texas, to James Lafayette "Jim" Cox and Lois Cashion Cox. She lived her entire life in Fannin County and attended Harrison School. On June 17, 1939, she married Bud Renshaw who preceded her in death January 27, 2002.

Kathryn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook. She loved taking care of her family and others.

Kathryn was a devout Christian and a member of Edhube Baptist Church for the majority of her life. It was there where she taught Sunday School, Bible School and loved singing in the choir for many years. Kathryn loved to garden and got great pleasure growing and sharing her beautiful irises. Her greatest passion was cooking for her entire family and feeding them all Sunday lunch.

Kathryn is survived by her son, John Charles Renshaw of Bonham; daughters, Jo Carolyn Hicks of Denison and Doris Ann Shockley (Larry) of Bonham; beloved grandchildren, John Shockley, Josh Shockley, Jake Shockley, Glen Smith, Kate Renshaw, Ross Renshaw and Hannah Hicks; great grandchildren, Aaron Shockley, Reyleigh Shockley and Zachary Shockley; loving sisters, Jimmie Lois Cosper of Dodd City, TX and Eleanor Perkins of Paris, TX; sister-in-law, Carol Cox of Sherman; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Lillian Walker, Mary Alice Clark, Nancy Simpson and Alton Cox.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday afternoon at Wise Funeral Home Chapel in Bonham with burial at Hampton Cemetery, south of Bonham. Rev. Brad Dardaganian will officiate, with grandsons, Josh Shockley and Jake Shockley presenting the Eulogy. Family night will be held at Wise Funeral Home on Thursday night from 6 – 8:00 pm. Pallbearers will be H. Compton, David Nichols, Buddy Morris, Gary Purdy, Lanney Davis and Charles Cashion.
