Kae Gibbs Chaffin

April 25, 1957 — October 10, 2012

Graveside services for Kae Gibbs Chaffin, 55, of the Duplex Community,of Fannin County, TX will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 in Duplex Cemetery under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. Phillip Mathis and Derrell Hall will officiate. Kae passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison.

Kae was born April 25, 1957 in Bonham, Texas, the daughter of Duane Gibbs and Jan Kueckelhan Gibbs. She was a graduate of Sam Rayburn High School and received her Bachelor's degree in history from Texas A&M Commerce (formerly East Texas State University). Kae married Robert C. "Bob" Chaffin on Aug. 2, 1973 in McKinney, Texas. She taught history and was a basketball coach in Stanley, Louisiana and later worked for Bonham State Bank. She loved her family and her greatest joy was being "Nanny Kae" to her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, geneology, old plantation homes and civil war history. In her younger years, she was a barrel racer and participated in many rodeos. Kae was a member of the Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Shuff and Rena Gibbs and Howard and Nell Kueckelhan and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Neal and Mary Chaffin.

Parents, Duane "Doodle" and Jan Gibbs of Duplex,Brother, Jacky Gibbs and wife, Robin of Duplex,
8 Grandchildren, Tyler, Lainey and Peyton Cooper, Harley Jo, Breyer and Dixie K'lene Chaffin, and Avreigh and Landreigh Chaffin,
Aunt, Nan Keeton of Duplex,Uncle, Haynes Kueckelhan of Bonham, TX,
Brother-in-law, Jimmy Chaffin of Bonham, and Nephews, Cody and Carson Gibbs of Duplex.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Dale Farris, Gayland Gibbs, Marty Kueckelhan, Rusty Lyles, Monte Hardy and Mark Gibbs. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Eskue, Derrell Hall, David Russell, Steve Eskue and Johnny Eskue.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Phyllis Russell Scholarship Fund, c/o Sam Rayburn ISD, ATTN: Adm. Office, 9363 E. FM 273, Ivanhoe, TX 75447 or the Ross Eskue Scholarship Fund, c/o Fannin County Fair Board, P. O. Box 58, Bonham, TX 75418.
