Obituary

Judy Anne Baker passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on May 25, 2026, at Medical City Dallas after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Arrangements are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home, Bonham, TX.

Judy was born on August 4, 1961, in Newport, Rhode Island, to Betty Jo and John Raymond Campbell at a U.S. Naval Hospital. When she was around two years old, her family moved to Texas, where she would spend the rest of her life building deep roots and lasting relationships. Judy was a 1979 graduate of Bonham High School. Once a warrior, always a warrior. Though an only child, Judy was blessed with a sister by choice, Donna Blevins Shockley, who introduced her to the love of her life during high school. Judy met Stanley Keith Baker her freshman year, and the two were inseparable from that moment on. They married on September 29, 1979, sharing 51 wonderful years together and 46 years of marriage filled with love, devotion and partnership.

Judy dedicated her entire career to serving students with special needs through FCSSA, Bonham ISD, and Honey Grove ISD for 31 years. Through her compassion, servant’s heart, and unwavering dedication, she touched countless lives and became family to so many colleagues along the way.

In 2017, Judy was given a second chance at life after battling serious heart issues. Her family thanks God every day for the extra time and precious memories they were blessed to share with her, especially the joy of watching her love and cherish her grandbabies.

Of all the titles Judy held in life, her favorite and proudest was “JuJu” to her four grandsons: Beau and Ben Baker, and Everett and Sloan Lawrence. She also was proud to be the honorary JuJu of Elijah and Camron Austin. They were the light of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Betty Jo and John Raymond Campbell and her father-in-law, John Thomas Baker.

Judy is survived by her husband of 46 years, Stan Baker; her son and daughter-in-law, Zack and Lindsey Baker, and their sons, Beau and Ben Baker; her daughter and son-in-law, Annie and Schuyler Lawrence, and their sons, Everett and Sloan Lawrence; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Butch and Deb Baker; her nieces and nephews, Kristie and Justin Barlow, Josh and Jessica Baker and Andrea and Deke Brummett; her great-niece, Lily Brummett; and her mother-in-law, Tennie Baker.

Judy’s kindness, strength, faith and unconditional love will continue to live on through the many people blessed to know her.

Honorary pallbearers include Aaron Hudson, Blake Bethel, Chris Dickson, Dusty Compton, Geoff McBroom, Jerry Hopson, Juan Soto, Myles Shockley, Paul Brown and Tyler Todd.

A celebration of life is Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Wise Funeral Home Chapel at 2pm. Visitation will be 1hr prior to service. Special friend of the family Colby Rich will officiate.
