Joyce Lynn Vanhuss

Graveside Services for Joyce Lynn VanHuss, age 73, of Dodd City, Texas will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Dodd City Cemetery in Dodd City, Texas under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Kevin Lane of Bois d' Arc Creek Cowboy Church will officiate. Joyce passed away Monday evening, February 1, 2021 lovingly surrounded by family at her home in Dodd City, Texas.

Joyce was born on January 10, 1948 in Enloe, Texas, the daughter of Tommie Sandridge and Hattie Velma Morris Sandridge. She married Jacky VanHuss on December 21, 1968 in Bonham, Texas. They were married for 49 years before Jacky's passing on January 13, 2018. Joyce's first career was as a cosmetologist. Later she worked at the Post Office. She especially enjoyed this work because she was a very sociable person; she enjoyed chatting and catching up with people. Joyce spent a lot of her time tending and caring for her garden; she found joy and peace in doing so. She was a member of Bois d' Arc Creek Cowboy Church in Edhube, Texas. Joyce cherished watching her grandson, Nate, play baseball and basketball. She loved everyone, but most of all, she loved her family. Joyce will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, and sister.

Joyce is survived by sons; Jonathan VanHuss and wife Jennifer and Jeff VanHuss, all of Dodd City, Texas; grandsons, Nate VanHuss, Deacon VanHuss, and Dawson VanHuss; extended family and a host of friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Teddy Fry, Bruce Mills, Gary Mills, Joe Ottmo, and Bryan Taylor.
