Obituary

Joyce Rea Pettie, known lovingly to family and friends as Dody, passed away on October 1, 2026, in Bonham, Texas, at the age of 68. Born on January 25, 1958, in Fort Worth, Texas, to parents Rosemary and Earl Rea. She was a woman who touched the lives of those around her with kindness, generosity, and a spirit that was both gentle and enduring. Arrangements are under the loving direction of Wise Funeral Home, Bonham, TX.

Dody was a proud Texan and a patriot at heart, carrying a deep love for her country and the values she held dear. She was the kind of person who believed in hard work, loyalty, and caring for others without hesitation. She was selfless in the truest sense, always placing the needs of others before her own and offering comfort, encouragement, and steady support whenever it was needed.

Above all else, Dody cherished her role as Ninny to her five grandchildren. That title was one she wore with great pride and joy. Her grandchildren brought light and laughter to her days, and she embraced every moment she had with them. Whether she was sharing a story, offering a hug, or simply enjoying their company, she created memories that will be treasured for a lifetime. Her love for them was unwavering, and the bond they shared was one of the greatest blessings of her life.

Dody also found happiness in the simple, meaningful moments of everyday life. She loved dancing in the kitchen with Carlos, where music, laughter, and love came together. Those moments spoke to the joy she found in companionship and the beauty she created in ordinary days. She enjoyed taking care of the chickens and sheep, tending to them with care and devotion.

Dody is preceded in death by her father Earl Rea, and sister Patricia Bancroft. She leaves behind mother, Rosemary Rea, husband, Juan Carlos, sons, Brandon Trimble and wife Magen, James Trimble and wife Kara, grandchildren, Madelyn Trimble, Maylynn Trimble, Mayzie Trimble, Caden Trimble, Shayne Trimble, sisters, Cathy Lutrell and Becky Rhae along with many extended family and friends.

Please join the family on Monday, October 5, 2026 from 5pm to 7pm for visitation at Wise Funeral Home. The funeral will be Tuesday, October 6th, 2026 at 1pm at Wise Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Fannin Memorial Gardens. Bro. Ron Greene will be officiating.
