Joseph Andrew "Opa" Duffy

Graveside services for Joseph Andrew "Opa" Duffy, 89, of Bonham, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at Elwood Cemetery under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Dr. Gene Owen will officiate. Joseph passed away Tuesday night, Sept. 25, 2012 at Red River Regional Hospital in Bonham.

Joseph was born Oct. 3, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Andrew James Duffy and Barbara Ropke Duffy. He married Juanita Rue on March 13, 1943 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Joseph was a US Army/Air Force veteran (Tech Sgt.) of WWII, serving from 1942 to 1945 and later during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW and the Elks Club. He was a salesman and manager for Ideal Distributers (office supplies and equipment), Dallas, Texas before his retirement in 1983. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothy Duffy.

Surviving are
Wife, Juanita R. Duffy of Bonham, TX, 2 Sons, Jim Duffy and wife, Donna of Addison, TX, and Bruce Duffy and wife, Brigitte of DeSoto, TX, 3 Grandchildren, Diane Duffy, Randy Duffy, and Deena Duffy Martin, and 3 Great grandchildren, Brittney Nash, Laney Martin and Liam Andrew Duffy.
