JOHN L. LINDSEY

Funeral services for John L. Lindsey, 84, of Bonham, will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, August 8, 2011 at First United Methodist Church under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. Liz Talbert and Rev. Morgan Malone will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Willow Wild Cemetery. John passed away Friday morning, Aug. 5, 2011 at Red River Regional Hospital in Bonham.

John was born Sept. 30, 1926 in Honey Grove, Texas, the son of Marshall George Lindsey and Carrie Camellia Mann Lindsey. He was a graduate of Dodd City High School. John was a retired US Army veteran, serving in WWII, the Korean War, and the Cuba Missile Crisis. He married Eva Mae Winn, Jan. 10, 1950 in Bonham. John was a member of First United Methodist Church for over 50 years where he sang in the Sanctuary Choir. He retired from the Texas Highway Department after over 34 years of service. John worked with the Campfire Girls organization and received numerous citations and awards. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle, gardening, woodwork and spending time with this family. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Jack Lovell Lindsey, Ted Pierce Lindsey, Ray Lindsey, Lloyd Lindsey, and Willie Lindsey; and two sisters, Mary McGaha and Velma Tanner.

John is survived by
Wife, Eva Mae Lindsey of Bonham,
Daughter, Barbara Griffin and husband, Joe, of Bonham,
Sister, Martha James and husband, J. R. of Waco,
Sisters-in-law, Annabelle Lindsey of Dodd City,
Marbel Lindsey of Llano, TX,
2 Grandchildren, Jyl Wagner and husband, Josh of Denison, and John Griffin and wife, Lyndsey of Forney,
5 Great Grandchildren, Griffin Wagner, Sydney Wagner, Asher Wagner, Natalie Griffin and Katherine Griffin,
Numerous nieces and nephews

Pallbearers will be Joe Griffin, John Griffin, Josh Wagner, Jerry Lindsey, Jackie Lindsey and Billy McGaha.
