A Memorial Service for John (Johnny) Moncrief, age 85 of Ravenna, TX will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Wise Funeral Home Chapel in Bonham, Texas. Officiating will be Bro. Mark Posey, Bro. Mickey Lyles and Pastor Bruce McKee. Johnny passed away on November 16, 2017. He was born March 31, 1932 in Ravenna, Texas to Jesse Woodford Moncrief and Calla Witherspoon.
Johnny was a Korean War veteran, an avid country music fan, especially George Jones. He loved his hats, his boots and his music.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Woodford Moncrief & Calla Moncrief; sisters, Joyce Troy and Ferne Jones; brother, Gerald Moncrief.
Surviving are his daughters, Gayle Brown and husband, Carrol of Bonham and Debra Pinkston and husband Joe of Bonham; grandchildren, Chuck Jones, A. Lee Brown, Kathy Pinkston, Angela Kuhn, Misty Stewart and Heather Brown; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Jones, Savannah Armstrong, Haley McBrayer, Tyler Jones, Stormy Shockley, Dax Stewart, Riker Stewart, Preston Morris Landry Jones, Lucas Williams and Heath Brown; great-great granddaughter, McKinlee Brown, and special niece, Jane Walker and husband Joe.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Baptist Church, 709 Union St, Bonham, TX 75418 or The Korean War Memorial Foundation, Inc., 10301 McKinstry Mill Road, New Windsor, MD 21776-7903.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM (1 hour prior to service) on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Wise Funeral Home Chapel.
