Graveside Services with Military Honors for John Donald Drawneck, age 90, of Bonham, formerly of Rendon will be held at 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Pastor Tim Perkins will officiate. John passed away Monday morning, February 17, 2020 at Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham, Texas.

John was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on January 3, 1930, the son of Julien Drawneck and Elizabeth Pochnak Drawneck. He joined the United States Army in March 1950. John earned his bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington. While serving overseas in Germany, John met the love of his life, Gisela Helga Jarezweski. They were married in 1960 and were together for 58 years before her passing in June 2019. John retired from the United States Army after serving 20 years. During his service he earned the Bronze star for his bravery and heroic achievement, going above and beyond, risking his life for others. John was a member of St. John Lutheran church in Mansfield, Texas. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He took pleasure in his work and was very fond of auditing. John was known for being quite stubborn but having a big heart. One of John's most favorite memories was dancing with his beloved wife, Gisela. Memories of John will be cherished always, he will be greatly missed. John is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, David Drawneck, and sisters, Lilliann Schwartz and Martha Dawson.

John is survived by his granddaughter, Rustee Howard of North Richland Hills, Texas; daughter, Angela Depositario of Bonham, Texas; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ron Foux, Jordan Steves, Chris Steves, and Brandon Hickman.
