Joe was born January 4, 1949 in Bonham, Texas, the son of John Allen Pilliod and Ruby Rubertina Cobb Pilliod. He was a graduate of Bonham High School and received a Bachelor's degree from East Texas State University in Commerce, TX. Joe married Donna Caddell, January 1, 1971 in Bonham. He was a member of Edhube Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. Joe was a rancher and enjoyed being a "Granddad".

A man of many words. Are there enough words to honor this man? He left a legacy of comfort, wisdom, devotion, love, support, prayer, hard work, provision, respectful son, devoted husband, wise and discerning dad, loving granddad, faithful friend, compassion, sincerity and humility. We are thankful for our time with him. Times we played together, prayed together, cried together and praised together. Times we hurt together and laughed together. He has left a strong united family that will live out his legacy; to love, respect, work hard, and walk humbly. He was ready for the Lord and the Lord was ready for him.
