It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Joe Berry Millhollon Jr., who departed this world on April 4, 2025, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison. Arrangements are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home in Bonham. Born on October 14, 1930, in Brownwood, Texas to Stella and Joe Berry Millhollon Sr. Joe led a life full of love, laughter, and remarkable achievements.
Joe was a cherished husband, father, papa, friend and a pillar of strength within the family and community. Known for his boundless generosity, Joe touched the lives of many, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.
Throughout his life, Joe showed incredible determination and passion in all endeavors. He excelled in his career as a Colonel in the Army National Guard, where he dedicated 35 years of service to this country. Joe went on to serve and protect the people of Dallas County for 26 years with the Dallas Police Department. He later went to work for the Regional Organized Crime Information Center. Joe was also a 50 year 32nd PM of Ector Masonic Lodge #687. Outside of work, Joe had a profound love for his church family serving as an Elder of the First Christian Church here in Bonham. This brought immense joy and fulfillment to Joe's life. Service to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ trumped every other achievement Joe had accomplished. In Joe's spare time he enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and Dallas Mavericks. When his teams were not playing you would find the television on his favorite old westerns.
Joe leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion. He is survived by wife Janice of 24 years, children, JoAnn Morris, Mike Millhollon and wife Vikki, Mark Millhollon and wife Karen, Brenda Markl, Kathy Richardson and husband Dean, Donna Holley and husband Arnold, stepsons, Roy Jones, Loy Jones, sister, Barbara Jean Eilan, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Margerite Millhollon, first wife, Emma Sue Millhollon, great-grandparents, Bart Millhollon, Stella Holder, Willis Holder, step grandparents, Gertrude Millhollon, Charles Wayne Millhollon and stepsons, Chris Jones, and Kirk Jones.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 2:00pm at The First Christian Church in Bonham. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The First Christian Church in honor of Joe.
Rest in peace, Papa Joe. Your spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved you.
