On June 20, 1959 at the age of 18 she married the love of her life, Pat Bowen in Trenton, Texas. In March of 1962 they celebrated the birth of their pride and joy, Randy Pat Bowen. They gained a daughter in 1982 when Randy married Kelli Vermillion. During the following years, they celebrated the births of three grandchildren. In January of 2007, after 26 years, she retired as a bookkeeper from McClanahan & Holmes, CPA. In 2009, surrounded by their loving family and lifelong friends they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Affectionately known as "Nanny" by her three grandchildren, she followed them through their various athletic endeavors across the state of Texas and several out of state. Her greatest talent was making sure her family had what they needed. She loved her family and they were her greatest joy.
