Jimmy Dale Blain,71, of Ravenna, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his residence on December 13, 2018.
Visitation will be held at Wise Funeral Home, in Bonham on Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Wise Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Chase Hinson and Bro. Cody Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at the Mulberry Cemetery.
Jimmy was born in Durant, OK in 1947 to Floyd "Joe" Blain and Mary Burns Blain. He attended Gober High School where he was remembered for his basketball days as a Gober Plowboy. He joined the United States Airforce in 1967 where he was a Missile System Analyst working on Minute Man Missiles. He was stationed in Chanute, IL, Fairborn, OH, and Gwinn, MI during his service.
He married Lea Ann Pannell on September 4, 1976 in Ravenna, TX. They shared a wonderful life together for 42 years. He was a wonderful father to Lisa, Steve, Leslie and Jessica and a devoted Pawpaw to his 9 grandchildren.
Jim was a Master Electrician who owned and operated Blain Electric for over 25 years before retiring at the age of 62. He loved fishing, games and puzzles and building anything his children or grandchildren requested. He may be most well-known for his Christmas Light display at his residence in Ravenna.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lea Ann Blain; daughters, Lisa Blain Smith and husband Kyle of Telephone; Leslie Blain Oliver and husband Brad of Bells; Jessica Blain Tramp and husband Justin of Ravenna; son, Steve Blain and wife Regina of Ravenna. He was known as PawPaw to Blaze Blain and wife Keylee; Bryleigh Blain; Reese, Braden and Addyson Oliver; Kade and Kole Smith; and Deacon and Beckett Tramp. Brothers are Floyd Blain and wife Brenda, Larry Blain and wife Jeanie, and James Blain. Brother-in-laws are Roy Pannell and wife Teresa, Billy Pannell and wife Donna. Also surviving is his favorite mother-in-law, Shirlene Pannell, and he will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Joe and Mary Blain; brothers, Bobby Blain and Billy Blain; sister-in-law Kay Blain; and father-in-law, Billy "Popeye" Pannell.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Guardian Hospice, 2009 Independence Drive, Sherman, TX 75090 or Mulberry Cemetery.
