Graveside services for Jerry Edward Smith, 78, of Ector, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham, Texas. Pastor David Murphy will officiate. Jerry passed away Saturday evening, October 25, 2014 at Carrus Specialty Hospital in Sherman.
Jerry was born May 17, 1936 in Bonham, Texas, the son of James Lewis Smith and Nettie Mae Barron Smith. He attended schools in Bonham and was a US Army veteran. Jerry owned and operated AAA Service Company in Sherman for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and drinking coffee with friends, but his favorite pastime was cooking. Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter Sherri Kaye Smith, parents, and brothers, Gene Smith of Bonham and Billy Smith of Ravenna, and sister, Barbara Smith Deel of Baird, Texas.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Keith Smith of Ector, Texas; son, Mitchell Smith of Pottsboro, Texas; daughter, Teresa Patterson and husband, Mike of Sherman, Texas; sister Margaret Daniel of Bonham and brother in-law Billy Deel of Baird, Texas; three grandchildren, Ashley Patterson Adams and husband, Tim of Sherman, Adam Patterson of Sherman and Alexey Patterson of Los Angeles, California; three great grandchildren Grayson, Savanah and Emma Adams all of Sherman; and several nieces and nephews.
