Funeral Services for Jeffrey Clark "Jeff" Kennedy, 50, of Bonham will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016 at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Dana Coker and Rev. Richard Leathers will officiate. Burial will follow in Dodd City Cemetery. Jeff passed away early Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016 at his residence following a courageous battle with esophageal/brain cancer.
Jeff was born June 21, 1966 in Sherman, Texas, the son of Earl Wesley Kennedy and Lois Clark Kennedy. He was a 1984 graduate of Bonham High School. He married Janet Suzanne Martin on July 16, 2005. Following the death of his father, Jeff continued to operate Smith-Moore-Williams alongside his mother and faithful employees. He had a generous spirit and enjoyed his customers and helping others. Jeff helped the Dodd City Baptist Church build a basketball goal which kids still use today. After the store closed, Jeff worked as a custodian at Finley Oates Elementary. Jeff loved the outdoors, farming and yardwork. He also loved the Dallas Cowboys. Jeff was a member of First Baptist Church in Dodd City and later, First United Methodist Church in Bonham. He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, G. W. and Josephine Kennedy and Fred and Rachel Clark, aunt and uncle, R. L. and Jean Clark and cousin Janet Corley.
Jeff is survived by his Wife, Suzanne Kennedy, of Bonham, Texas;
Mother, Lois Kennedy of Bonham, Texas; Father-in-law & mother-in-law, Jimmy and Karen Martin of Sherman, Texas; Sister, Virginia Workman of Bonham; Brother-in-law, Randy Martin and wife, Robyn of Van Alstyne, Texas; Nieces, Lena Robison and Kendyl Martin; Nephews, Wesley Gee, Jace Brown and Cale Martin; Aunts, Dorothy Barber, Betty Lackey, Virginia Peebles and Brenda Holloway
Uncles, Carrol Clark, Harold Clark, and Freddie Clark; Numerous cousins, extended family and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Flowers, Ken Fox, Billy Johnson, Tracey Lackey, Randy Martin and Jimmy Caplinger. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth McDonald, Willard Johnson, Johnie Hilliard, Wayne Moore, Jerry Lindsey, and Milton Robison.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jeff Kennedy Memorial Scholarship Fund via the Bonham Education Foundation at Legend Bank.
