Janie Mccarter Eller

Funeral services for Janie McCarter Eller, 101, of Van Alstyne, formerly of Fannin County, will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 7, 2023 in Wise Funeral Home Chapel.  Rev. Chris Moody will officiate.  Burial will follow in Ravenna Cemetery, Ravenna, Texas.  Janie passed away Monday night, January 2, 2023 at Meadowbrook Care Center in Van Alstyne, Texas.

Janie was born July 23, 1921 in Ravenna, Texas, the daughter of Charles Oscar "Charlie" McCarter and Mary Katherine Howland McCarter.  She was a graduate of Bonham High School and East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce, Texas.  Janie married Thomas Stanley Eller on January 26, 1941 in Durant, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on September 12, 1990.  She owned and operated, along with her family, the Ivanhoe General Store for many years and served as the County Librarian for Fannin County.  She was a longtime member of the Eastern Star and Ivanhoe Baptist Church.  Janie loved people and enjoyed worldwide travel.

Janie was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Ferguson "Chub" McCarter (Nov. 6, 1999) and James Monroe McCarter (Dec. 30, 2009); a sister, Edna Moody, and nephews, Larry McCarter and Rex Moody.

Janie leaves to cherish her memories, nieces, Mary Simco, Sharron Carr, Linda Russell and Linda Staton; and nephews, Jerry Moody, Charlie Moody, Chuck McCarter and Horace Duncan.

Nephews serving as pallbearers will be Keith Simco, Clay Moody, Michael Moody,, Jake McCarter, Tony Davis, Greg Moody, Jeff Moody and Matthew McCarter.

Memorials may be made to Guardian Hospice.
