Jan Kueckelhan Gibbs, 84, of Ivanhoe, Texas, passed away on April 10, 2023 at the Stone Brook Assisted Living in Denison, Texas. The family will receive friends at the Wise Funeral Home Chapel from 10:00 AM until service time and the funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 14, 2023, in the Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. James Rogers will officiate. Burial will follow in the Duplex Cemetery.
Mary Jan Kueckelhan Gibbs was born May 4, 1938, in Bonham, Texas, the daughter of Lester Howard Kueckelhan and Eupha Nell Haynes Kueckelhan. Jan attended schools in the Ridings Community of Fannin County, Texas (now the Corinth Community) and graduated from Bonham High School in 1956. She married the love of her life, Duane "Doodle" Gibbs on June 22, 1956, in Corinth, Texas and he preceded her in death March 17, 2020. Hand in hand, Jan and Doodle raised their two children, Mary Kae and Jacky and worked their cattle business on the ranch near Ivanhoe, Texas. She also worked with him as he auctioneered in numerous sale barns around the country. Spending time with her family was a great joy. Jan loved to draw and was a member of Duplex Baptist Church.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Mary Kae Gibbs Chaffin (Oct 10, 2012), her brother, Haynes Kueckelhan, and brother-in-law, Tommy Keeton.
Jan leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Jacky Gibbs and wife, Robin, of the Tulip Community of Fannin County, Texas, her sister, Nan Keeton, of Ivanhoe, Texas, sister-in-law, Malda Kueckelhan of Bonham, Texas, son-in-law, Bob Chaffin of Ivanhoe, Texas, grandchildren, Cody Gibbs (Rachael), Carson Gibbs (Samantha), Dale Chaffin (Adriane), Gerald Chaffin (Kelly) and Julie Chaffin Underwood (Lee), and numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Mohundro, Marvin Fuller, Scott Gibbs, Gayland Gibbs, Harold Latham and Gibbs Keeton. Honorary pallbearers will be Kay Mohundro, Carolyn Stroud, Matt Riemer, Victor Gomez, Monte Hardy, Jerry and Pat Taylor.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Duplex Cemetery Association.
