James Kenneth Woodall

Funeral services for James Kenneth Woodall, 89, of Bonham, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 22, 2021 in Wise Funeral Home Chapel.  Pastor Lee Armstrong will officiate.  Burial with military honors conducted by Sheppard Air Force Base will follow in Gober Cemetery, Gober, Texas.  James passed away Sunday afternoon, May 16, 2021 at Texoma Medical Center, Bonham Hospital.

James was born September 14, 1931 in Venus, Texas, the son of James Skidmore Woodall and Audie Irene Hadley Woodall.   He was a graduate of Italy High School in Italy, Texas and East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas where he received his Bachelor of Science degree.  James married JoAnn Green on June 12, 1953 and after a marriage spanning 61 years, she preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 2014.  He faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force from 1954 until his retirement in 1974.  James grew up on a farm in Italy, Texas and following his retirement from the Air Force, he farmed and ranched with his dad.  He taught at Bonham High School for 19 years and owned and operated Woodall Tax Service from 1990 until 2019.  He enjoyed being a Scout Master with the Boy Scouts when his sons were growing up.  James was a member of Victory Life Church in Durant, OK.  He was also a longtime member of the Bonham Kiwanis Club and served as the treasurer for over 20 years.  He was active with all aspects of the club including working with Bonham Trades Day.  James was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Sheri Ann Woodall (1971), a son, James Lowell "Jim" Woodall (2/8/2021) and two sisters.

James is survived by two sons, Lee Woodall and wife, Monica of Calera, OK and David Woodall of Bonham, TX; 5 grandchildren, Kim, Eric, Miles, Meagan and Michaela; great granddaughter, Presley and great grandson, Parker and a number of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
