James Madison Whitworth

Graveside services for James Madison Whitworth, 97, of Ector, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 in Willow Wild Cemetery under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. Normous Free and Chaplain Mark Posey will officiate. James passed away Thursday morning, Sept. 24, 2015 at his residence.

James was born May 23, 1918 in Kaufman, Texas, the son of John Monroe Whitworth and Mary Etta Hope Whitworth. He married Iva Mae Cromer on Dec. 4, 1939 in Mineola, Texas, and she preceded him in death Apr. 20, 2002. James was a US Army veteran of WWII. He owned and operated a telephone company and worked in all aspects of the business from laying underground cables to switchboard operator. He was a member of Congregational Methodist Church. James was preceded in death by his daughter, Wanda Whitworth on Feb. 15, 2013, his parents, and two sisters-in-law, Wilma Leopard and Jessie Whatley.

James is survived by his son, John M. Whitworth and wife, Glenda of Ector, Texas; brother-in-law, J. L. Cromer of Hallsville, Texas;
three grandsons, two great granddaughters, one great great grandson, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
