Funeral Services for James Edwin Russell, age 58, of Bonham will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Derrell Hall will officiate the Funeral Service. Burial with military honors will follow at Willow Wild Cemetery. James passed away Friday night, December 16, 2016 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison.
James was born August 19, 1958 in Fannin County, Texas, the son of Wyndell Edwin Russell and Dora Dean Anderson Russell. He joined the Navy in June of 1976. One of his favorite things to do was have get-togethers; meeting up with family and friends, reminiscing, and sharing each other's lives was something very dear to him. James raised three daughters and he couldn't be more proud of each one of them; they were his world. You could say James had a bit of a rough side to him; he enjoyed rock n' roll and relished the wind in his face while out riding his motorcycle. James also had a soulful side to him. He treasured the blues and played the guitar well. But James' most important side was his role as a father, grandfather, and son; he loved, above all earthly things, his daughters, grandchildren, and mother. James is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Phillip Russell.
He is survived by his daughters, Tarra Russell of Bonham, Texas, LeAnn Ramirez and husband Ivan of Sherman, Texas, and Kitty Russell of Sherman; brother, Tom Russell of Austin, Texas; sisters, Cynthia Nolen and husband Donald of Bonham, Texas, Rhonda Bowman and husband Wallace of Sanger, Texas, and Judy Pruett and husband Allen of Sanger, Texas; and 11 grandchildren, Layla Russell, Jordan Olvera, Ivan Ramirez Jr., Christopher Olvera, Natalie Olvera, Brianna Ramirez, Stephanie Ramirez, Alesia Ramirez, Ricky Henriquez, Dominic Henriquez, and Isaac James Ramirez.
Pallbearers will be Ivan Ramirez, Alfonso Olvera, Wylie Fox, Donald Nolen, Nathan Morgan and Nolen Hughes. Honorary Pallbearer will be Tommy Taylor.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2016, two hours prior to service time.
