James Maurice Reeves

Funeral services for James "Maurice" Reeves, age 85, of Randolph, will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the First Baptist Church, Randolph, TX under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. David Brackett and grandson, Rev. Daniel Caldwell will officiate. Burial with Naval Honors will follow in Randolph-Lindsey Cemetery. Mr. Reeves passed away Thursday, December 26, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Reeves was born August 28, 1928 in Colbert, OK, the son of Ira Fulton Reeves and Eula Lee Williford Reeves. Mr. Reeves was a United States veteran serving in the Army and Navy and later married Sandra Jean Farmer, April 12, 1952 in Denison, Texas and she preceded him in death on January 28, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his son, Larry Maurice Reeves on March 25, 2005 and his siblings Howard Reeves, Vernon Reeves and Nancy Nix. He was a member of the Ashley Masonic Lodge #681 and member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Randolph. He owned and operated Maurice Reeves & Son Plumbing Co. in Farmers Branch, TX and enjoyed gardening, especially caring for his roses.

He is survived by:
Daughter: Kristi Bridgwater, and husband, David of Randolph TX
Grandchildren: Daniel Caldwell of Randolph TX, Carrie Reeves of Santa Monica CA, and Lori and Jason Barenfeld of Hermosa Beach CA
Great granddaughter: Kai Barenfeld of Hermosa CA
Siblings: Virgie Reynolds of Farmers Branch; Hoss and Billie Reeves of Cartwright OK, Sonny and Jimmie Reeves of Cartwright OK, Ina and Hal Simmons of Albuquerque NM and Jim Reeves of Dallas TX

The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday December 27, 2013.
