James Gregory "Greg" Moore died peacefully on August 7, 2023 at Clyde Cosper Texas State Veterans' Home
in Bonham, TX. Greg was a follower of Jesus Christ and is now in the presence of his faithful Savior.
Born to James Reid and Norma Nadine Moore on August 2, 1947 in Henderson KY, Greg quickly found gifts in academics and the arts, where he excelled in school and participated in vocal music and stage productions. Greg graduated from the University of Kentucky with a BA in Political Science. As the war in Vietnam raged, Greg volunteered to serve our country by enlisting in the US Army where he served in the Army Security Agency. He completed one tour of duty in Vietnam where he earned the Bronze Star for meritorious service. Coming home, he promptly married his beloved Sylvia on July 9, 1972, whom he had met shortly before leaving for Vietnam and with whom he corresponded the entire year. He earned a law degree from the Akron School of Law and began his law career in Erie, PA where, 30 years later, he would earn the award from the Bar Association for the most pro-bono (free) law work done over that period. Greg served his community faithfully, being an active Sunday School teacher, Lay Pastor and Youth Leader. But he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family. Greg laughed often, sang loud and stood proud for the flag.
Greg is survived by his sons Jeffrey (Stephanie) Moore of Aurora, IL and David (Heather) Moore of Coppell, TX; grandchildren Julia, Joshua, Matthew, Jonathan and Andrew; a brother Dan Moore of Evansville, IN.
A private family burial will take place at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery in Erie, PA on a date yet to be determined.
