James Edward "Jimmie" Collins

Memorial services for James Edward "Jimmie" Collins, 88, of Ravenna, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church, Williams Educational Bldg., 818 N. Main, Bonham, under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. Brad Dardaganian will officiate. Jimmie passed away Monday, December 17, 2012 at Red River Regional Hospital in Bonham.

Jimmie was born February 25, 1924 in Bonham, Texas, the son of William Ruffin Collins and Minnie Mitchell Collins. He was a 1941 graduate of Bonham High School and a US Navy veteran. Jimmie married Sue Phillips on May 17, 1949 in Bonham. His biggest accomplishment was being a loving husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend to his family and community. He was a Scoutmaster 15 years and earned numerous honors including the Eagle Scout, Wood Badge, Vigil Member of the Order of the Arrow and the Silver Beaver. He participated in numerous Scout meetings for the Eagles Board of Review. Jimmie was a member of the Kiwanis Club in Bonham and Sulphur Springs, the Fannin County Iris Club and Texas Grape Growers Association. He was the longest continuous member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder for many years. He was the 1983 Representative to the General Assembly and Committee of Ministry for the Presbyterian Church. Jimmie was a retired Postmaster at the Sulphur Springs Post Office and was a former Citizen of the Year named by the Bonham Chamber of Commerce. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Mitchell Hampton Collins and William Ruffin "Bill" Collins, Jr.

Jimmie is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Sue Collins of Ravenna, TX, Children, Eddie and Dana Collins of Allen, TX, Minnette and David Bilbo of College Station, TX, David and Vicki Collins of Midlothian, TX, and Emilie Collins and Troy Jaco of Pottsboro, TX, Sister-in-law, Edna Collins of Bonham, TX,
Grandchildren, Michelle and Nick Swanzy, Ross Collins, Taylor Collins and fiancé, Jacob Hebert, Phillip Collins, AshLee Bilbo, his dog, Happy and extended family

Memorials may be made the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
