Helen Marie Franklin Eldridge
August 18, 1936 — July 25, 2016
Helen Eldridge passed away July 25, 2016 at the age of 79. A celebration of Helen's life will be held on Saturday, July 30 at Wise Funeral Home Chapel in Bonham. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Saturday prior to services.
Helen was born August 18, 1936 in Nacogdoches, Texas, the first daughter of Thomas and Ethel Franklin. She soon after had two younger sisters, Tommie Jean and Wilma Lee. The family moved to Irving, Texas in the years to follow, and Helen was a graduate of Irving High School, Class of 1953. She married Kenneth Odel Eldridge the following year, and celebrated 62 years of marriage this past week. Ken and Helen moved to Bonham after they retired, and then most recently to North Richland Hills, Texas.
She had three daughters and one son - Nola & Billy Watson, Connie & Don Thomas, Diana & Ken Kerby and Scott and Tam Eldridge, and eight grandchildren Shelby Thomas, Jonathan Kerby, Kenneth Watson, Courtney Eldridge Amin, Kristen Kerby, Rebekah Watson, Madison Kerby, and Baric Eldridge, and six great grandchildren, Colin & Chloe Thomas, Eli Kerby, and Kody, Sawyer and Paisley Watson.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Tommy Jean Bishop, her granddaughter, Rebekah Watson and her great grandson, Sawyer Watson.
Helen was a loving wife, devoted mother, cheerleader for her grandchildren, and champion for her great grandchildren. She loved to travel, read, and play competitive board games (which she usually won). She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bonham, a volunteer with Sadie's Helpers, and the local library. Her failing health took her away from these activities way too soon. She was a devoted Christian, and we know that she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as promised in II Corinthians Chapter 5 vs 8, We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
Helen ran the good race and finished well. We will miss her until we see her again in Heaven.
