Harris Lloyd Moore, Jr, age 81, of Reno/Blossom, Texas, left his earthly home for his new home in Heaven on Friday, December 26, 2014 at 4:55 p.m. in Honey Grove. To fulfill his wishes, no services are planned.
Harris was born on May 16, 1933 in Houston, Texas to Harris Lloyd Moore, Sr and Ludie Beaver Moore. He attended Rice University in Houston for 2 ½ yrs. While at Rice University, Harris served with the U.S. Marine Corp through the ROTC and later served 2 ½ yrs. with the U.S. Army. He loved his God and his country. Harris was a professional truck driver; having worked with Red Ball Motor Freight for 25 years, bringing his driving career to 40 plus years; later retiring from Yellow Frt. Company in Paris, TX
Harris was a member at New Hope Baptist Church for 28 years, and was a member of the Men's Group at the Church. He enjoyed singing in the church choir. As his illness progressed, he attended Fellowship Baptist in Blossom. When he was no longer able to attend services, he sat on the front porch or under the shade trees at their home, with strict orders from his wife to not get out of his chair while she went to church. Harris was the best husband and father ever.
He was father to sons, Tim Moore, Dallas; James Moore and wife Kelly, Frisco; Chris Moore and wife Kathy, Las Vegas, NV; a daughter, Nancy Sutherland and husband Dewayne, Dunlap, TN; grandchildren Cameron Moore, Chelsea Moore, Brian Moore and wife Jessica, Brad Moore and Zach Moore, Kristin Moore Jarmon and husband Matt, Amber Hernandez and husband Santiago; Great Grandchildren Gibson Moore, Jana and Julia Jarmon and Mykaela Hernandez.
He was preceded in death by both parents and a son.
Harris married Peggy Box on June 25, 1977. Her family consists of Debi Beckwith, Jerri Cunningham, Larry Box (deceased) and Larry's wife Tracy Box. Grandsons Brad Beckwith, Ryan Box and Chad Box, granddaughters Stephanie Carter and Shannon Natting. Great grandchildren Camille, Marilyn and Nathan. Also sisters and brothers-in-law; Patsy and Jim McGhee, Wichita Falls, Mary and Paul Shytles, Abilene, Linda and Jack Ramsey, Wichita Falls and Donald and Joyce Box of Mesquite.
To the staff and all employees at Honey Grove Nursing Center and Dr. Sid White, for their faithful and much appreciated attention to Harris throughout his journey, may the Lord continue to watch over each of you. Thanks to special friends Zachary and Melissa Blount and Ali K, Tracy Box and Evie Taber for their attentiveness to Harris throughout his illness.
