Gordon Edwin Bolt went home to be with the Lord Thursday, February 11, 2016.
Gordon was born February 20, 1928, the son Edwin Bolt and Marian Clark Bolt. He married Carolyn Evelyn Bates on June 3, 1955 in Providence, Rhode Island. Gordon was a member of the First Baptist Church in Anderson, Indiana. He enjoyed having coffee with his friends. He was a World War II Veteran, minister, missionary, boxer, salesman, and 3rd degree black belt in Judo. He was hard working until diabetes took his sight and he was no longer able to drive. He loved sharing stories of his life. But mostly sharing his love for Christ. Gordon held a Master's degree and Doctorate in Divinity. Gordon had an outgoing personality and enjoyed the company of others. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, William Hammond, 3 Grandchildren, and a Niece.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Bolt of Blue Ridge, Texas; Son, John Bolt and his wife Elizabeth of Carmel, Indiana; Daughters, Barbara Bolt of Blue Ridge, Texas, Jane Betteridge and her husband Keith of Anderson, Indiana, and Rebecca Smith and her husband Clay of Lewisville, Texas; Sister, Dorothy Smith of Schenectady, New York; 12 Grandchildren; 4.5 Great Grandchildren; Niece, Bonnie Ausfeld and her husband James of Scotia, New York; Paul Crist and wife Lou Ann of Red Hill, Pennsylvania; Ruth Martin and Husband Jeff of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania; Stephen Crist and Wife Sharon of Beacon, New York; Suzanne Harmon and Husband Jeff of Columbia, South Carolina; extended family and friends.
Memorial Services with Military Honors for Gordon Edwin Bolt, age 87, of Blue Ridge will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 29, 2016 at Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment will follow at Arledge Ridge Cemetery.
