Graveside services for Gladys Keene, 77, of Bonham, will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 5, 2012 in Duplex Cemetery under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. Jeff Johnson and Rev. Brian Everett will officiate. Gladys passed away Tuesday morning, July 3, 2012 at her residence.

Gladys was born September 26, 1934 in Dodd City, Texas, the daughter of Higginbotham "Doc" Long and Pearl Jourden Long. She attended Randolph schools. Gladys married Wade Martin Keene, March 17, 1951 in Durant, Oklahoma. She raised her children in Duplex Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, worked in Vacation Bible School and sang in the choir. She later moved her membership to Telephone Baptist Church where she kept the nursery many years and worked with the Awana program. Gladys enjoyed sewing, gardening, working in her yard, going to antique auctions with her sister, Johnnie, and deer hunting. She loved her family and her greatest joy was spending time with them and attending their school activities and sporting events. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, O.C.B. Long, Carrol Long, R. J. Long and Albert Ray Long and two sisters, Bonnie B. Long and Velma Neal.

Husband, Wade Keene of Bonham, TX, 4 Daughters, Daphna Winn and husband, Danny of the Duplex Community, Fannin Co., TX, Gwen Polk and husband John, and Marilyn Fry, all of the Hilger Community, Fannin Co., TX, and
Connie Page and husband, Jimmy of Bonham, TX, 1 Brother, Clovis Long of Bonham, TX, 1 Sister, Johnnie Naylor of Telephone, TX,
7 Grandchildren, Missy Brent and husband, Rodney, Teresa Mills and husband, Garry, Jason Caylor and wife, Leah, Kristy Agerlid and husband, Michael, Kelly Wilson, Haley Page and Brittany Page, 13 Great Grandchildren, Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Gladys was known as the 'Best Mom in the world' by her children and the best 'Nanny' by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a wonderful loving person who touched the lives of many children and adults in her lifetime.
