A Celebration of Life for George Perry McClellan Jr., age 73, of Telephone, Texas will be held at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Congregational Methodist Church in Bonham, Texas. Bro. Mark Posey will officiate. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. George received his rewards when he died Monday, October 12, 2020 at Medical City McKinney in McKinney, Texas.
George was born on March 20, 1947 in Decatur, Illinois the son of George Perry McClellan and Norine Williams McClellan. He served in the United States Army in the 60s and 70s. George married Linda Jane Croxen on April 6, 1979 in Decatur, Illinois. They were married 41 years before his passing. He worked for 10 years in the construction system and 15 years in the school system. George was a Christian, having been saved in 1978. He was a member of Congregational Methodist Church in Bonham, Texas for over 30 years. George served in the church as an ordained Deacon. He also led singing and taught Sunday school. George was willing to do anything that was asked of him, he loved the Lord, and always tried to set a good example. One of George's favorite Bible verses was Psalms 119 which reads, "Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord." George is preceded in death by his parents.
George leaves behind his wife, Linda Jean McClellan of Telephone, Texas; sons, Jack Oliver of Decatur, Illinois, Mark McClellan of Decatur, Illinois, and Matthew McClellan of Telephone, Texas; daughters, Tammy McClellan of Decatur, Illinois, Tara McClellan of Decatur, Illinois, and Tosha and Kevin Lindsey and of Telephone, Texas; sisters, Carol Sue Kirby of Decatur, Illinois and Sandra Peters and husband Junior of Savoy, Texas; several grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
