G.C. Bridges

September 25, 1934 — June 3, 2017

Grover C. Bridges, Jr., 82, of Lannius, Texas went to be home with the Lord on June 3, 2017. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 pm Saturday, June 10 at Wise Funeral Home in Bonham, Texas. Bro. Roy Burpo will officiate, with burial to follow at Smyrna Cemetery. Family visitation will be 1:00 – 2:30 pm, preceding the service.

G. C. was born September 25, 1934 in Aley, Henderson County, Texas to Grover C and Annie Teetze Bridges; he was the youngest of 10 children. He graduated from Mabank High School in 1953, served in the National Guard, and married Linda Williamson on June 5,1959 in Kemp Texas. They made their home in Kemp, where he was active in church, school, and community activities. Their two daughters, Celia and Shannon, attended Kemp Public Schools and participated in several sports. G. C. was an enthusiastic fan and rarely missed an event. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and being in the outdoors. His garden was abundant and enjoyed by family, friends, and neighbors. He retired from Knowles Door Check Company in 2000 and spent his retirement years traveling and enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He and Linda moved to the Lannius community in 2009.

G.C. was preceded in death by his daughter Celia, parents, 2 brothers and 6 sisters. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda of Lannius, daughter Shannon Krakosky and husband Mark of Sachse, grandsons Joey Weeks (Danielle) of Ector, Justin Weeks (Jessica) of Pensacola, Florida, Connor Krakosky, Riley Krakosky and Braeden Krakosky of Sachse, 5 great-grandsons: Radney, Raiden, and Ramsey Weeks of Ector, and Henry and Grady Weeks of Pensacola, Florida. Also surviving him are his sister Billie Jean Boehme of Gun Barrel City, son-in-law Nick Weeks (Cheryl), many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

The family would like to thank Northeast Medical Center Home Health, and Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassionate care during G.C.'s final illness.
