Memorial Services for Gary Bruce Lakey, 66 of Denison will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Duane Peters will officiate. Gary passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at his residence in Denison, Texas.
Gary was born on 5/27/1949, the son of Roy Thomas Lakey and Betty Lou Davis Lakey. He attended the University of Texas at Arlington. Gary worked for the Denison Post office as a Rural Mail Carrier for twenty-seven years before retiring. He was of the Baptist faith. Gary was a cowboy who loved riding his horse and going to rodeos. He enjoyed the art of photography and loved taking photos at rodeos. In his younger days, Gary was a star on his high school football team, and as an adult he was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Gary is preceded in death by his father and one nephew, Kelly Neal Brunette.
Gary is survived by his mother, Betty Lakey of Ravenna; Sisters, Linda Brunette Redfield and husband Scott of Fort Worth, Texas, and Lynnette Lakey Taff and husband Tim of Whitewright, Texas; Niece, Misty Brunette Smock and husband Ryan; and longtime girlfriend, Judy Pannell of Denison, Texas.
