Freda "Meemaw" Shackelford

Funeral services for Freda Hulen "Meemaw" Shackelford, 77, of Bonham, Texas are Rescheduled  at 2:00 PM Friday, Feb. 19, 2021 in Wise Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 1:00 PM till service time, Friday. Dr. Daniel Caldwell and Rev. David Brackett will officiate. Burial will follow in Randolph Lindsey Cemetery,  Randolph, Texas.   Freda passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021 at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville.

Freda was born Feb. 14, 1943 in Randolph, Texas, the daughter of Vestal Everett Smith and Edith Hazel Vaughn Smith.  She married Jackie Edwards "Pappy Jack" Shackelford on Dec. 19, 1959 in Madill, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death, Sept. 29, 1997.  Freda was employed with State Farm Insurance for 28 years before her retirement.  After retiring, she worked in the canteen at Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center.  For the past 19 years, she has been a dedicated Meemaw and her greatest joy was caring for her grandkids. Freda was a member of Randolph Baptist Church.   She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Justin Owen and a sister, Oneta Baker.

Freda leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Jackie Edwards "Bubba" Shackelford, Jr. of Wylie, TX and John DeWitt Shackelford  (Michelle) of Bonham, TX; two daughters, Shannon Michelle Bentle (Tad) of McKinney, TX and Deana Earlene Williams (Bryan) of Wolfe City, TX; one brother, Johnny Smith (Shirley) of Atlanta, GA; five sisters, Oleta Taylor of Mesquite, TX, Betty Blackerby of Bonham, TX, Peggy Daugherty of Paris, TX, Janie Milstein (Marc) of Dallas, TX, and Celia Conrad (Charlie) of Garland, TX; ten grandchildren, Timothy Shackelford, Emily Shackelford, Ricky Adams, Jr. "Butch", Walter Adams, Michael Adams, Thomas Wayne Shackelford, Raegan Edwards Shackelford, Zachary Williams, Matthew Williams and Rachael Quinsenberry; seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ricky "Butch" Adams, Walter Adams, Thomas Shackelford, Raegan Shackelford, Zachary Williams, Matthew Williams and Timothy Shackelford.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
