Obituary

Everett Dale Davis, known to family and friends as Dale, passed away on October 7, 2026, in Bonham, Texas, at the age of 87. Arrangements are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home, Bonham, TX.

Dale was born on April 14, 1939, in Santa Anna, Texas, and he lived a life marked by hard work, steadfast faith, and a deep devotion to the people he loved. He was a loving, faith-filled, and funny man whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and a sense of steadiness to those around him. He was fun loving and mischievous in the best ways, and he carried himself with a kind spirit and a righteous character that reflected the values he held dear throughout his life.

Dale spent many years as a farmer and rancher, and he found great satisfaction in working with his cows and tending to the life he built with his own hands. He also owned Chaparral Manufacturers in Trenton, Texas, where he applied the same dedication and integrity that guided him in every other part of his life. After retiring, he enjoyed the slower pace of life for the past 20 years, but he never lost the work ethic or practical wisdom that defined him. His life was one of purpose, perseverance, and quiet strength.

Above all else, Dale was a Godly man whose faith remained central to everything he did. He served as a deacon at Gober Baptist Church for 43 years, faithfully supporting his church family and living out his beliefs through his actions. His service was not only a title but a true calling, and those who knew him saw in him a man committed to prayer, humility, and service. He was respected for the way he lived, and his example of devotion and consistency left a lasting impression on many.

Dale married the love of his life, Ila, straight out of high school, and together they shared a true holy matrimony built on love, loyalty, and a lifetime of shared memories. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to commitment and grace, and their bond remained a source of strength and joy throughout the years. He treasured Ila deeply and honored the life they created together. Their union was blessed with a family that became the center of his world.

He was a proud Grand Daddy to his 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, and he delighted in each one of them. His family brought him great happiness, and he cherished the moments spent with them. Whether he was sharing a laugh, telling a story, or simply enjoying their company, Dale made sure his loved ones knew they were valued. His legacy lives on in the generations who will remember his humor, his faith, his wisdom, and the steady love he gave so freely.

Dale also had a special gift for the simple pleasures of life. He loved smoking meat and making biscuits on his mama’s cast iron stove, and these cherished traditions reflected the homegrown comfort and authenticity that were part of who he was. The memories of those times will remain treasured by all who were fortunate enough to share them with him. He appreciated good food, good company, and the kind of moments that become family legends over time.

He is preceded in death by parents, Richard and Leona Davis, sister,. Audene Davis, and brother Elmo Davis. Dale is survived by wife, Ila Davis of 68 years, children, Jim Davis and wife Sue, Debbie Kirkham and husband Rick, Bobby Davis, Faron Davis and wife Olga, grandchildren, Tessa Simmons (Steve), Shonna Fagan (Rob), Crystal Davis (David), Chris Kirkham, Corey Davis (Shelby), IIeah Gregory (Eldon), Eric Davis, Cali Kirkham, IIeen Davis, Mila Davis, Daniel Davis, siblings, June McKee (Jack), Butch Mitchell (Judy), Coleena Shriver (Cliff), LaVern Mason (Jerry), 18 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
