Etta "Sis" Lorene Bridges

Heaven got a little sweeter on Monday, January 16, 2023 when it welcomed home Sis Bridges.

Funeral services for Etta Lorene "Sis" Bridges, 97, of Dodd City, will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 20, 2023 at the Lannius Church of God under the direction of Wise Funeral Home.  Rev. Roy Burpo and Rev. Dereck White will officiate.  Burial will follow in Dodd City Cemetery.  Lorene passed away Monday afternoon, January 16, 2023 at Seven Oaks Nursing and Rehab in Bonham.

Lorene "Sis" Anderson Bridges was born on March 21, 1925 in Fannin County, just north of what is currently Lannius, Texas to Moses Calvin Anderson and Martha Ann Phelps.   She married Paul Bridges on November 5, 1942 in Durant, Oklahoma.  Together they raised 3 sons, Paul Wayne, Larry Joe and Randell in Dodd City.  Lorene was a homemaker and worked for the Dodd City School Cafeteria.  She loved visiting with the children and they loved "Sis".  She was a longtime member of the Lannius Church of God where she served her Lord faithfully.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking Sunday dinners.  Sis was an avid sports fan and could be found supporting her children and grandchildren as they played their various games.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 64 years, Paul Bridges (Sept. 13, 2006), a son, Paul Wayne Bridges (Aug. 31, 2019), daughter-in-law, Glenda Bridges (Feb. 11, 2022), nine brothers, and one sister.

Sis leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Larry J. Bridges, Randell Bridges and wife, Melissa Bridges all of Blossom, Texas, daughter-in-law, Nancy Bridges of Lannius,  grandchildren, Lesia Bridges,  Kim and Mike Burpo of Lannius, Vicki Bridges, Ronnie and Cobi Bridges, Jordan Bridges and Jessy and Kirsten Bridges of Blossom, Great grandchildren- Johnathan and Megan Burpo, Jennifer and Derek Wilson, Kelsie and Tyler Anthony, Carson Bridges and Gracie, and Callan Bridges. Great-great grandchildren - Caden Wilson, Blake Wilson, Keegan Burpo and Piper Burpo, Morgan Landreth and caregivers, Barbara and Daphne. She is also survived by brother-in-law JB Bridges and wife, Diane as well as numerous nieces nephews  and a host of beloved friends and church family.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Bridges, Jordan Bridges, Johnathan Burpo, Carson Bridges, Callan Bridges, and Casie Partridge.

The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home in Bonham from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday night, January 19, 2023.

Memorials can be made to Dodd City Cemetery or Lannius Church of God.
