Graveside services for Mr. Ernest Steven "Steve" Richards, age 81, of Bonham, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at the Arledge Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Wise Funeral Home in Bonham. Rev. Kevin Towery and Chaplain Jerryd Wallace will officiate. Steve passed away on November 16, 2013 at his home in Bonham, Texas following a lengthy illness.
Steve was born March 1, 1932 to Doyle and Leona Jones Richards in Lamasco, Texas. He attended schools in Fannin County and graduated from Bonham High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army, spending a year of his time in Germany. When he returned from the military he met Bonnie Lackey and they were married March 9, 1956 in Bonham, Texas. He worked 30 years for the Texas Department of Transportation and after retirement he continued farming and ranching until his health began to fail. He liked to fish and go deer hunting in South Texas. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Steve is survived by his wife, Bonnie Richards; son, Craig Richards;
Daughter, Teresa Pearson and her husband Thomas, all of Bonham; Grandchildren, Garrett Pearson and wife Andrea of Bonham and Hillary Gannon and husband John of San Clemente, California; sister, Clevie Newell and husband Ronald K. of Sherman; nieces and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tommie Richards.
