Graveside services for Mrs. Eleanor Frances Benton Smith, age 85, of Whitewright, Texas, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham, Texas, under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. Doyle Henderson will officiate. Eleanor passed away at her residence Saturday, June 25, 2016.
Eleanor was born on June 23, 1931 in Bonham, Texas in the east room of the Scarborough Home that was owned by her Benton family for a time before the depression. She will lie in state in the east room of what is today known at Wise Funeral Home for her family visitation from 7:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, June 27, 2016. She was the daughter of Edmond Clark Benton and Alta Coreen Johns Benton.
Eleanor was a 1948 graduate of Bonham High School. She married William Eugene Smith on November 14, 1948 in Bonham, and he preceded her in death on February 11, 2008. She was retired from the Garland Independent School District as school secretary. Eleanor was a member of the Whitewright First United Methodist Church. She loved traveling and the outdoors and was a member of the Yellowstone Association and served on the 4B Board of the City of Whitewright.

Sons: Nolan "Buster" Smith and wife Zahira of Whitewright, Texas
Clark Smith and wife Erin of Bonham, Texas
Grandchildren: Joshua, Zachary, Rachel, Huston, Jonathan, Natasha and Peyton Smith
One Great Grandchild: Delaney Smith
Extended family: Ronnie Craig, Steve Allen, Pam Stemple, and Karen Michell
