McKinney

Elda Lou Main passed away on February 21, 2023 in McKinney, Texas.

Elda was born in the Dust Bowl on September 16, 1930 in Kansas. Her family ran a working family farm in a tiny town called Hugoton. She was ten years younger than her closest sibling. Elda had four brothers that were all smart and rowdy. She enjoyed helping on the farm as much as she could. She enjoyed chasing the cows home, cooking and doing her chores. Elda was a person of diligence and that proved in her hard work on the farm. One of her favorite pastimes was reading in the pasture until dark. From a young age Elda loved cats. Growing up she was allowed to keep one kitten in the house. As Elda grew older she continued with that same strong love of animals by contributing to animal rescue groups, wildlife organizations, and anything that improved the life of animals. Elda always said " All animals are cute, especially baby animals". She was one of the first woman to graduate from Kansas University with a degree in Marketing. While at KU she met Luster Main who would become her husband. Luster had just returned from WWII where he was held in a Nazi prison camp after being captured at the Battle of the Bulge. Luster and Elda had a son named Mike who was the apple of her eye. Her degree in marketing lead to a lifelong career in the American Business Women's Association. Elda traveled the world on business trips paving the way for women to enter the workforce. Elda will be fondly remembered for her hard work, determination, kindness to animals, and beauty. Elda had an internal beauty that far surpassed her external beauty.

The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.

Those left to honor her memory are daughters in law, Joyce Main and Jerilyn Main.

Elda is preceded in death by her parents Everett and Estella Main; and son, Mike Main.
