Dorothy "Dot" Mae Horton

Graveside services for Dorothy Mae "Dot" Jones Horton, 85, of Dodd City will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Dodd City Cemetery. Rev. Rodney Sprayberry will officiate. Dorothy passed away February 3, 2013 in Greenville, Texas.

Dorothy was born was born April 9, 1927 to Oscar Charles Jones and Nannie Myrtle Hedrick Jones in Gainesville, Texas. She grew up and attended public school in the Lannius Community in Fannin County, Texas. Dorothy married Willie G. Horton on Sept. 22, 1945. They had three children, Don Horton of Georgetown, Texas, David Horton of Bonham, TX, and Karen Horton Parks of Union Valley, TX. She was a lifelong Methodist, attending the Lannius and Dodd City United Methodist Churches. Dorothy was employed by the Bonham I.S.D. until her retirement. Among her favorite activities were sewing and large family gatherings. She was known as a wonderful cook to her family and friends and was famous for her homemade pies. She also enjoyed gardening and always kept a beautiful flower garden.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years.

She is survived by her three children and spouses Don and Cathy Horton of Georgetown, David and Lisa Horton of Bonham, and Karen and Don Parks of Union Valley; twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, Lori Horton Flowers and husband, Johnny, Sean Horton and wife, Jaime, Lindsay Horton Robinson and husband, Jay, Whitney Horton Cervenka and husband, Christopher, Danielle Horton, Chris Horton, Brandon Horton, Zachary Lovelace and wife Casie Baker Lovelace, Coleman Lovelace, Gary Parks and wife Linsey, Ryan Parks and wife Heather and Travis Parks; Great Grandchildren, Justin Flowers, Jayna Flowers, Cash Robinson, Scout Robinson, James Robinson, Alex Robinson, Gage Cervenka, Kenlee Cervenka, Bradic Carter, Jillian Parks, Elise Parks, and Jonas Parks; Two brothers, Roy Jones of Irving, Texas and Wayne Jones of Sachse, Texas. Dorothy will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by family and friends.
