Dorothy A Hammer

Dorothy Anna Hammer, resident of Bonham, passed away at Seven Oaks Care Center on June 2, 2024 at the age of 84. A celebration of life service will be held at Wise Valley Chapel in Bonham, TX on Monday, June 10, 2024 at 1pm with Keven Towery officiating.

Dorothy was born in Akron, Ohio to Kermit and Bertha Haines on November 12, 1939. Dorothy began her career at the City of Akron in the Water Department at the age of 20 and retired from the city at the age of 55. She moved to Texas in 2002 to enjoy her retirement with her family. Dorothy loved to travel and especially enjoyed going to the west coast when she lived in Oregon. Dorothy was very adventurous even jumping out of a plane in her 50's to sky dive. When she wasn't traveling you would find Dorothy serving. Every Christmas she helped build the shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Dorothy also served on a few mission trips with her church. Sharing God's love with others was so important to her.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers David and Albert Haines.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Lance Frye and Teresa of Bonham, Lynn Adams and husband Larry of Van Alstyne, grandson Lance Klockgether Il and wife Kristin of Windom, grandson Richard Klockgether and Donaice of Ravenna, great grandsons Tyler Adams and wife Dani, Mason Adams, Preston Klockgether, Logan Klockgether, Carson Klockgether, Austin Klockgether, Bryer Klockgether, great granddaughter Emily Klockgether, great-great granddaughter Sophia Adams. Other surviving family members include her sisters Rosalie Capshaw and Jean Banks, as well as, several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Seven Oaks Nursing Home for their care and kindness shown to Dorothy. In lieu of flowers please consider giving to Bonham's local Meals On Wheels Program.
