Dorothy Louise Gilbert

Dorothy Louise Gilbert age 59, passed peacefully home to heaven on August 15, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home, Bonham, TX.

Dorothy was born on February 26, 1965 in McKinney, TX to Elbert and Barbara Pierce. She married the love of her life, Jimmy Gilbert on June 10, 1995 in Savoy, TX. They were married 29 wonderful years before she was called home to be with the Lord. Dorothy's highest calling was being a homemaker and mother to their sons, Preston and Joseph. Matter of fact, she became known as mom to just about everyone she met. Life became extra sweet for Dorothy when she became a grandma. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Dorothy never met a stranger and her precious smile will be fondly remembered by all of those that love her. Dorothy enjoyed cooking and you would never leave her presence hungry. A full belly gave Dorothy a full heart. When she wasn't cooking or shopping you would find her loving her dogs. Dorothy was a woman of strong faith and we do not grieve without hope, we take great comfort that life for the believer starts at death. She will be forever missed by all of those whose lives she touched.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Barbara and Elbert Pierce, grandparents, Christine (Bessie) Loftice, Jake Loftice, Weller Smith, uncles, Albert Pierce, Glen Smith, father-in-law, Clyde Gilbert, and, sister-in-law Gina Pierce.

She is survived by husband of 29 years, Jimmy Gilbert of Bonham, TX, sons, Preston Gilbert of Bonham, TX, Joseph Gilbert of Midland, TX, grandchildren, Waylen, Eliana, Zoey, Lena, siblings, Robert Roach, Gwinda French (Wayne), Irene Grady, Anna Shugart (Brian), Delbert Pierce (Kyla), numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends.

Visitation will be Monday, August 19, 2024 from 6pm to 8pm at the chapel of Wise Funeral Home. Service will be Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 10am, Calvary United Pentecostal Church of Bonham with burial to follow at Arledge Ridge Cemetery, Bonham, TX.
