Doris Lorraine Roesler Kane

May 6, 1923 — February 24, 2017

Kane, Doris Lorraine Roesler, age 93, of Bonham passed away on Feb. 24, 2017 in Carrollton, Texas. She was born in Junction City, Kansas to George and Laura Schlatter Roesler on May 6, 1923 and the family moved to Oklahoma City, OK when she was 4 years old. She attended Oklahoma City University and was employed by OKC Federal S&L. She married Richard Eugene Kane on April 26, 1947. She and her family moved to Denton, TX in 1952, and then to Guymon, OK in 1960. Doris worked as Office Mgr. for the John Deere dealer until 1966. She retired again in 1985 following her husband's death in 1978, and moved to Oklahoma City to oversee her mother-in-law's care. Twenty-five years later, she moved to Bonham in 2010.

A life-long (Cradle) Presbyterian, Doris was very active in First Presbyterian Church in Bonham, Denton, Guymon and Central Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City where she was named Elder Emeritus and Honorary Life Member in Presbyterian Women. She was a 19-year member of P.E.O. and an officer in Mother-to-Mother Ministry for 15 years in OKC, as well as in her Neighborhood Assn. Bridge games were a favorite pastime as was golf in earlier years. She volunteered with Mobile Meals in Guymon, OKC and Bonham, and at Red River Regional Hospital in Bonham.

She was predeceased by her brother, George Roesler, Jr.; husband, Richard Eugene Kane; sister & brother-in-law, Mary Ann & Warren Fenity; and a son, Richard Allen Kane.

Surviving are her daughter and husband, Laura Luke and Jerry Panter; granddaughter and husband, Traci & Evan Anderson (Broken Arrow, OK); step grandchildren, Jeff & Shelly Panter of Denton, Kristen Panter Collier & Ron Collier of Arlington, TX; and 7 great grandchildren; one nephew, Larry Fenity & Debbie; niece, Marcia Fenity of OKC; and great nephews as well as one great niece. She also will be missed by 2 great grand nephews.

A life-long "city dweller" until her move to Bonham, Doris delighted in living near her daughter 5 miles from town, and thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of the countryside. She was often visited by her granddogs next door, and their presence "lighted her life" – as did visits from family and friends – and the love and care given her by Laura and Jerry.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Doris at 3:00 PM on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church of Bonham. Wise Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A private inurnment will be held in Oklahoma City at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to First Presbyterian Church, 818 N. Main St., Bonham, TX 75418. Online guest register www.wisefuneralhome.com
