Funeral services for Dora Dell Kelley, 94, of Bonham, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011 at First United Methodist Church under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Rev. Liz Talbert and Rev. Tom Medley will officiate. Burial will follow in Willow Wild Cemetery. Dora passed away Sunday night, Oct. 23, 2011 at Red River Regional Hospital in Bonham.
Dora was born on December 18, 1916 in Bonham, Texas, the daughter of Delmar Dell "Dee" Kelley and Myrtle Cloma "Myrt" Tittle Kelley. She graduated from Bonham High School and Texas Tech University and received her Masters degree from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas.
Dora began her forty-seven year teaching career in Shallow Water, Texas and later taught in Wolfe City Independent School District and Bonham Independent School District where she touched the lives of several generations of Bonhi students.
Dora was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where she belonged to United Methodist Women and the Builders Sunday School class. She also belonged to the Fannin County Retired Teachers and to the Young at Heart organization.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Louise Kelley. Dora is survived by her sister, Millie Ruth Kelley of Bonham, Texas and numerous cousins including her very special little cousins, Ally and Zach Weeks.
Millie is especially grateful for the loving care provided by friends and relatives Joann Hamilton and Ashleigh Hamilton, Gomez, Jennifer and Derek Weeks, Rich and JoAnn MacConnell, and by Barbara McDonald and Elenor Roath of Home Instead Home Health Care, and Northeast Medical Center Home Health, as well as the care of their pastor, Liz Talbert and the wonderful members of First United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Warren, Mike Warren, Derek Weeks, Lewis Hutchins, Jimmy Lumpkins, and Brent Speck.
