Donna Mcshell Smith

Donna McShell Smith entered Heaven on November 28, 2023 in Denison, TX.

She was born May 14, 1956 in Amarillo, TX to Richard Louis Elliott Sr. and Charlie Mae Pointer Elliott. Donna moved to Bonham, TX at the young age of twelve following the death of her mother, where she would reside until God called her home. At the age of seventeen Donna married Hollis Wayne McFail and to that union her only daughter was born, Tamika (Mika) McFail. Donna later married David Leon Smith Sr. and their union spanned 32 years. In that thirty-two years they were blessed with two healthy sons, David Jr. (Bo) and Dravion (Dra) Smith. Donna was devoted to her family. She cherished her children most in the world. Donna loved her family and friends, and never met a stranger. To know Donna was to love her. Her love for life and happiness will always remain in the hearts of her family. Donna had several hobbies that she enjoyed. She loved playing softball (co-ed), watching her boys play sports, shopping, red lipstick, and getting her nails done. Donna worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shied/Trailblazer, as a claim examiner, for 36 years. She then went on to work for the Fannin County Detention Center for 10 years as a jailer. Donna was contemplating retirement before taking ill in March 2023. Donna was a true fighter and fought until the very end. She went to Glory with her family by her side.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Charlie Mae Elliott, brothers, Richard Louis Elliott Jr. and John Charles Elliott.

She leaves behind many to cherish her memory, daughter, Tamika McFail, sons, David (Bo) Smith and Dravion (Dra) Smith, sister, Mildred Dickerson (Don), brothers, Alvis Dunlap (Sonya), Marcus Dunlap (Jacque), Melvin Dunlap (Kim), Donald Dunlap (Karen), Kevin Elliott (Stormy) 4 grandchildren, Sh'Torian (Tori) McFail, Quintraveon (Tra) Minter, Zariya Green, and Zae'Leigh Smith, grand puppy, Arlo, great grandchildren, Peyce Harris, and Cymphani Minter, and special friend, Don Brown.

Please join the family on Friday, December 8, 2023 for visitation at Wise Funeral Home from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The service will be Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 1:00pm at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Bonham, TX with burial to follow at Fannin Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tony Perry, Jay Burton, Fran Brown, Brennan Thomas, Deshawn Elliott, Kevin Elliott, Honorary will be Nigel Palmer and Damien Stewart.
