Bonham

A private inurnment was held for Donald Mason Walley, age 77, of Bonham, Texas at Willow Wild Cemetery in Bonham, Texas under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Donald passed away Monday morning, November 23, 2020 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.

Donald was born at Big Springs, Texas, on December 7, 1942. Don was a loving husband and a wonderful father, putting his family first.  He was a man devoted and committed to his family and a man of integrity and generosity. He worked hard at providing for his family. We were greatly blessed to have his mother, Elizabeth living with us for 35 years as an intricate and valuable part of our family. He loved the Terry family as his own: Bill and Carol Terry and their family; Melanie and her children and her husband Stan Woodruff; Timothy and Sharon Terry and their family; and Johnny Terry. Don graduated from North Texas University with a Business & Insurance Degree.  He then went to the Marine Corp Officer Training School and was commissioned as a Lieutenant to serve in the Vietnam War. He was very proud to serve his country.  After Don concluded his military service as Captain at Camp LeJeune, he moved to Dallas area to be near his family.   He retired from his insurance claims business and moved to Bonham.  Don enjoyed his family, gardening, and building houses in his so-called retirement. Don had a very keen mind and daily read the newspaper and watched the news keeping up with what was going on in the country.  He had an amazing sense of humor and could talk comfortably with anyone.  His mind was actively thinking of things he could do to help anyone in need.  A strong faith in God carried him through the last eight years of his life dealing with Parkinson's and other health issues but he never complained.  His man cave was always full of family and friends visiting and watching the cowboys games.  He was so proud of his family and loved them unconditionally and was so thankful for their visits. He was much loved by them all.

He was preceded in death by his father, Irvin Wilmore Walley, and his mother Elizabeth Meason Walley.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Terry Walley of Bonham, Texas; sons, Jesse Mark Walley and Clorinda of Frisco, Texas and Stephen Mason Walley of Whitewright, Texas; daughters, Christian Marie Garner and husband Brian of Trenton, Texas and Mary Elizabeth LaBounty and husband Paul of Lorena, Texas; brother, Mike Walley and wife Elizabeth of Mesquite, Texas; grandchildren, Brannon Elijah Walley, Preston Crawford Walley, Jackson Mason Walley, Hailey Kirbo and husband Weston, Cole Edwin Garner, Denis Jaden Garner, Dylan Matthew LaBounty, Mason LaBounty, and Colt Joshua LaBounty; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
