Donald Lee Butler of Ladonia, TX passed away on January 17, 2024. Arrangements are under the direction of Wise Funeral Home, Bonham, TX.
Donald was born on December 15, 1945 in Gober, TX to parents, Thomas and Ruth Butler. From a young age service was at the heart of Donald. He joined the United States Marine Corp on December 7, 1967. During his time in the service he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device ,and The Expert Rifle Badge. After he returned home from serving his country he met and married Dorothy "Faye" Hall on April 8, 1970. Donald's expertise in upholstery lead to a very successful business. His first location was in Oak Cliff, TX, then he owned High Plains Upholstery in Borger, Tx, then moved to Durant/Blue, OK. His customers would drive 11.5 hours away to seek his abilities. Donald taught college courses due to being a master in his craft. He truly loved his profession. During the last part of his career came along son, Dakota. He joined big brothers, William " Michael" and Jeffrey Wayne Redd. After retirement they returned to his hometown in Ladonia, TX. Donald will be fondly remembered for his love of family and friends. He was a one of a kind in his profession and for that he will be greatly missed. He was loved by all that knew him.
Donald is preceded in death by parents, Thomas and Ruth Butler, and son, Jeffrey Wayne Redd, siblings, Bobby Gerald Butler, Thomas Butler, Sammy Butler, Lenora Wiggins, Billie Bates, Patsy Hall, Jimmy Butler, and Darlene Brown.
He is survived by, wife, Dorothy Faye Butler of Ladonia, TX, sons, Michael Redd (Charlotte) of Borger, TX, Dakota Cagle of Ladonia, TX, sisters, Mary Jackson (Ronnie) of Tishomingo, OK, Ellen Matthews (Tommy) of Sulphur Springs, TX, special niece like a daughter to Donald, Nancy Beth Wood of Dodd City, TX, 4 grandchildren and 3+ great grandchildren.
Visitation is January 26, 2024 from 6pm to 8pm @ Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Service with Military Honors will be January 27, 2024 @ 1pm @ Wise Funeral Home Chapel with Time Duke officiating. Burial will follow at Gober Cemetery. Pallbearers will be - Eddie Vann Butler, Steven Wayne Hall, Jimmy Don Butler, John Butler, Artie Page, and Eric Stafford.
