Dolores Faye Owen, age 77 of Bonham, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 21, 2017.
Dolores was born March 26, 1940 in Denton, Texas to Duward and Mildred Russell. She married Gene Owen on October 27, 1956 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Dolores was a graduate of Denton High School, a pastor's wife for 30 years, and a member of Southside Baptist Church in Denison for 14 years. She was loved and adored by all who knew her. She touched many lives with her servant's heart and acts of kindness. She will always be remembered for her genuine love and compassion for her friends and community. She delighted in her family and enjoyed being a homemaker. During her two-year battle with leukemia she was the epitome of strength, faith, and grace.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Reverend Gene Owen of Bonham; her daughters, Kathy Hughes and husband Greg of Bonham, and Lesley Thomas and husband Bruce of Wichita, Kansas; her grandsons, Jonathan Hughes and wife Lindsey of Midland, Texas, Aaron Hughes and wife Tayler of Bailey, Texas, Brett Thomas and wife Ashley of Kansas City, Kansas, and Bryson Thomas of Hays, Kansas; great-grandchildren, Madison, Addisyn, Kayla, and Emilee; brother Jerry Russell and wife Sharon of Crowley, Texas; nephews Ricky Russell and wife Cindy and Randy Russell and wife Amy; cousins, Nancy Penn and Gale Smith of Sulphur Springs, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Summer Thomas, and great-grandson, Bryson Hughes.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday evening, August 25, 2017 at Wise Funeral Home in Bonham, Texas.
Funeral Services will be at 11:30 AM on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Southside Baptist Church, 3500 Park Avenue, Denison, Texas. Presiding will be Reverend Keith Taylor and Reverend Bill Slayton. Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Joe Nelms, Tim Meek, Mike Hintergardt, Tom Turner, Tim Hosman and Charles Hefley. A Graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM at Arledge Ridge Cemetery in Bonham, Texas.
