Derral A. Tibbets, 91, of Telephone, Texas, passed away on May 26, 2026, in Bonham, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength that touched everyone who knew him.

He was born on November 6, 1934, in Blue Eye, Missouri, and carried the values of his upbringing throughout his life. Derral was a man of steady character, known for his gentle spirit, his soft-spoken nature, and the warm way he treated others. He had a gift for making people feel welcome, and he was truly a friend to all. Those who knew him best remember him as hardworking, humble, and deeply sincere, with a heart that reflected compassion in all he did.

Derral built a meaningful life through dedication and perseverance. He retired from Otis Engineering in Carrollton, Texas, after years of faithful service. Following retirement, his life centered around the farm in Telephone, where he found purpose and peace in the daily work of country living.

He had many interests that brought color and character to his days. Derral enjoyed working on his old cars. He also loved gardening and took great pride in canning his vegetables. He especially loved serenading his nurses at North Star Ranch.

Derral’s life was marked not by grand gestures, but by the steady goodness of a man who lived with integrity and grace. He was soft spoken, yet his presence carried a quiet strength. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by, his parents, Paul and Dora Tibbets, brothers, Jimmy Tibbetts, Leroy Tibbetts, and sister, Paula Scarber. He is survived by life partner, Claire McNellie, sons, Derral Vaughn Tibbets (Kim), Ernest Tibbets, granddaughters, Krystal Klein (Betsy), Alex Bliss, and great-grandsons, Liam Klein, and Oliver Klein.

Visitation is Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Wise Funeral Home from 6pm to 8pm and the following day a graveside service at Lamasco Cemetery at 11am. Nephews, Greg and Lynn McNeese will officiate.
